5 Ways To feel Happier
Dear Friend,
When I speak at companies, schools, or work with life coaching clients, one question comes up often:
How do we actually feel happier?
Here are 5 powerful ways to improve happiness naturally.
1️⃣ Find Your Purpose
Ask yourself:
What do I love? _____________
What makes me feel alive? _____________
What gives my life meaning? ______________
Purpose improves motivation, energy, focus, and emotional well-being.
2️⃣ Eat Whole Foods That Support Happiness
The foods we eat directly affect mood, energy, focus, sleep, and emotional health.
Serotonin — one of the major neurotransmitters involved in happiness, calmness, and emotional balance — is essential for sustained elevation of mood.
Foods that help support serotonin production include:
• Beans
• Vegetables
• Fruit
• Wild fish
• Pastured eggs
• Fermented foods- yogurt, kefir, and miso
• Extra virgin olive oil
• Herbs and spices
Reduce (These can sabotage happiness):
• Artificial additives
• Preservatives
• Pesticides
• Refined sugars
• Processed oils (canola, sunflower, soy)
3️⃣ Move Your Body
Exercise helps release powerful feel-good chemicals and hormones that improve mood, confidence, stress control, and resilience.
Walk faster.
Lift weights.
Dance.
Sprint.
Take the stairs.
Move consistently.
4️⃣ Get Sunlight and Fresh Air
About 10–30 minutes of sunlight several times per week can help support vitamin D levels- essential for mood, energy, immune function, brain health, sleep quality, and helping us feel more mentally and physically resilient.
Go outside daily.
Walk.
Breathe deeply.
5️⃣ Find Your Special Spot
Find a place that helps you feel calm, clear, energized, and connected to your purpose.
For me, those places are near water.
Your special spot might be a beach, hiking trail, gym, coffee shop, kitchen, or backyard.
Go there often.
You have greatness in you!
